An Agent Architecture for Concurrent Bilateral Negotiations
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present an architecture that makes use of symbolic decision-making to support agents participating in concurrent bilateral negotiations. The architecture is a revised version of previous work with the KGP model [23, 12], which we specialise with knowledge about the agent’s self, the negotiation opponents and the environment. Our work combines the specification of domain-independent decision-making with a new protocol for concurrent negotiation that revisits the well-known alternating offers protocol [22]. We show how the decision-making can be specialised to represent the agent’s strategies, utilities and preferences using a Prolog-like meta-program. The work prepares the ground for supporting decision-making in concurrent bilateral negotiations that is more lightweight than previous work and contributes towards a fully developed model of the architecture.

CONAN: a heuristic strategy for concurrent negotiating agents
We develop CONAN, a heuristic agent for concurrent bilateral negotiations in electronic markets that are open, dynamic and complex. Existing strategies often omit the factors determining when a market environment is open or how an agent evaluates progress in bilateral negotiations. Such omissions in turn damage the offer-making ability of an agent and consequently the number of successful negot...
متن کاملReal-Time Coordination of Concurrent Multiple Bilateral Negotiations under Time Constraints
This paper addresses a coordination problem during concurrent multiple bilateral negotiations. Real time decisions need to be taken during negotiation to ensure that the overall negotiation process is successful in terms of achieving a valuable agreement (an agreement with high utility). Existing approaches for managing concurrent multiple bilateral negotiation typically rely on historic inform...
متن کاملManaging commitments in multiple concurrent negotiations
Automated negotiation by software agents is a key enabling technology for agent mediated e-commerce. To this end, this paper considers an important class of such negotiations — namely those in which an agent engages in multiple concurrent bilateral negotiations for a good or service. In particular, we consider the situation in which a buyer agent is looking for a single service provider from a ...
متن کاملCross-Cultural Time Sensitivity in a Bilateral E-Negotiation System
For a long time, culture has been an influencing parameter in negotiations. Growth of international trades and business competitions has increased the importance of negotiations among countries and different cultures. Developing new technologies, particularly the use of artificial intelligence in electronic trading areas, has provided us with the application of intelligent agents to resolve cha...
متن کاملAn Agent Architecture for Simultaneous Bilateral Negotiations
In this paper we introduce an agent architecture for joint action negotiation among several agents in complex environments and with negotiation time bounds. The architecture is based on a graded BDI model and on an informationbased negotiation model. This work does not yet include experimental results but it is currently being tested using DipGame (http://www.dipgame.org).
